Home is Where the House Is (Part 2) An ongoing series of paintings, all of uniform size, 14” x 18”.
Artist’s statement: I am currently working on a series of paintings of simple, ordinary houses, ones without grand architectural pretensions. Rather, their importance derives from the lives lived within them, of which we see very little. The houses are from a variety of locations in the United States and Mexico. They are, in a sense, the places we all grew up in, places of nurture, experience, trial, memory and forgiveness.

From the top:

Bozeman #1, Bozeman, MT
Bozeman #2, Bozeman, MT
Mascota House, Mascota, Jalisco, Mexico
Traverse City #2, Traverse City, MI
In Escrow, Long Beach, CA
Million Dollar Teardown, Corona del Mar, CA

Lanai Apartments, Laguna Beach, CA

Behind the Scenes

1. The Empire Strikes Back. Carrie Fisher and Peter Mayhew show that Princess Leia and Chewbacca are actually BFFs.

2. Kill Bill. Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu stop fighting long enough to show they’re actually great friends.

3. The Shining. Lisa Burns and Louise Burns look far less creepy between their haunting stints in hallways.

4. Edward Scissorhands. Johnny Depp and Winona Ryder hugging it out between takes.

5. Raging Bull. De Niro gets some help with a slate clap on Raging Bull.

6. Pulp Fiction. John Travolta and Bruce Willis laugh about something between scenes.

7. Silence of the Lambs. Hannibal Lecter enjoying a fry between shots.

8. The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger practices for the final scene of the movie when he’s hanging from the skyscraper. It looks a bit different than you may remember.

9. Ben-Hur.

10. Titanic.
